Good Morning back from Germany, where house prices at the start of the year fell more sharply than at any point since 2023. The Europace House Price Composite Index declined by 0.27% in January compared MoM, w/prices for existing homes falling in particular. One key reason is the sharp rise in mortgage rates.
At the same time, rents jumped by 0.7% MoM in January, likely boosting demand for owner-occupied housing and helping stabilize prices.
